Angler holding a bright redfish caught on a 4-hour inshore charter with Showintail Inshore Charters in the oyster bars off Navarre Beach

Morning Trip Highlights

Captain Bryant Modlin ran a 4-hour half-day charter in the shallow oyster bars off Navarre Beach. With incoming tide, the redfish bite lit up—clients landed over a dozen slot reds on live shrimp under the pier. Speckled trout action was steady along the grass edges, with three keepers over 18″. Best techniques: popping cork with shrimp trailers and 1/4 oz jigheads fished slowly.

Afternoon Action

As clouds moved in, Captain Jordan Wright took a family on a 2-hour kids’ trip in Santa Rosa Sound. Despite a few raindrops, the little anglers boated pinfish, croaker, and two nice flounder. Calm sound waters and patient instruction kept smiles all around—perfect for first-time fishermen.

Species of Note

  • Redfish: Best on live shrimp near oyster racks.
  • Speckled Trout: Top-water plugs along grass flats.
  • Flounder: Drift-fishing with live pilchards in 4–6 ft.
  • Sheepshead: Concentrated around bridge pilings (late afternoon).
