Redfish, Speckled Trout & Black Drum Action with Showintail Inshore Charters

Redfish, speckled trout, and black drum caught in Pensacola Bay on May 24, 2025 with Showintail Inshore Charters

Today’s charter with Showintail Inshore Charters delivered a fantastic day on the water in Pensacola Bay, where the bite was strong and steady all morning. We targeted inshore species and came back with plenty of Redfish, Speckled Trout, and some solid Black Drum.

📍 Location: Pensacola Bay, Florida

We launched just after sunrise and began working some structure and deeper troughs near the north end of Pensacola Bay. The fish were feeding aggressively on the early tide swing.

🐟 What We Caught:

  • Redfish: Caught on live shrimp and soft plastics around oyster beds and dock pilings. Several slot-sized fish with a few oversized bulls released safely.
  • Speckled Trout: The trout bite turned on with the outgoing tide. Most were found in grass flats and sandy potholes near the western shoreline.
  • Black Drum: These fish were holding tight to deeper structure, caught on cut bait and live shrimp.

🌤 Weather Conditions – May 24, 2025:

  • Air Temperature: 81°F
  • Skies: Mostly sunny with some high clouds by noon
  • Wind: Light SE breeze at 6–10 mph
  • Humidity: Moderate
  • Water Clarity: Slightly stained near river runoff, clearer on outgoing tide

🌊 Tide Report – Pensacola Bay:

  • High Tide: 6:48 AM
  • Low Tide: 1:12 PM
  • Tide Movement: Strong outgoing tide mid-morning helped fire up the bite

🎯 Guide Tip of the Day:

Live shrimp under a popping cork worked wonders for trout and redfish. Slow your retrieve and focus on moving water edges.
