Redfish/Red Drum

The past week has been chilly with a steady North wind making the redfish head for deeper water. We spent most of the days throwing soft plastic jerk baits and gulp slow bouncing the deeper shoreline edges through out the Navarre Beach area.

The fish we have found over the last week shallow 1-3 feet during the mid day seem to be just trying to get warm and not to worried about eating. Different story for the fish we found in 6+ foot of water! The deeper fished seemed to be starving. Gulp worked the best because it offers scent among many other things and it did it take long to pick through the smaller fish and get the larger Redfish fired up. If you make it out in the area weather it be Navarre Sound, Pensacola Bay, Or Escambia Bay head for deep shorlines and start slow bouncing your favorite soft plastic and the redfish should show up for dinner.

Speckled Trout

The Speckled Trout is slowly getting better and better for all Navarre Beach Fishing Charters. With spring right around the corner the chance at catching a real monster Florida Gator Trout is coming up soon!

This week the Speckled Trout bite was a lot better in the upper bays around Escambia River and Blackwater River mouths. The deep muddy bottoms around structure have been the ticket to finding schooled up Trout. 10-20 feet of water with a jig head and soft plastic produced the best this week. Once you find the Trout it’s not uncommon to be able to catch more then your fair share out of one spot! If you find a good Speckled Trout mark the area and try to give it a few extra minutes working the area to find the school that could be hanging close by.
